Follow-Up to Our National Property Strategy Article

Earlier this year, we published an article regarding GSUSA’s national property strategy.  In it, we expressed disappointment that the membership wasn’t consulted for feedback and raised concerns about how GSUSA, using Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) as a partner, would go about its work.  We also asked questions based on what we saw happening at other councils such as Southern Illinois and Gateway.

Recently, GSUSA hosted a webinar featuring Anne Smith, Vice President of Property Strategy at GSUSA, and Pam Hyland, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England. They explained the strategy, priorities, and phases of GSUSA’s plan. Ninety-eight of 111 councils participated in GSUSA’s survey and received data analysis back from NKF. Councils can utilize this data to make decisions accordingly.

You can see a recording of the webinar here.  You’ll need to fill out and submit the registration first, and then you’ll be able to view the recording.

If you have any creative ideas about to keep Girl Scout camps alive and thriving, Anne Smith stated that she welcomes them via email. Her email address is asmith@girlscouts.org. If you have questions about your council’s participation in the study, you should contact your council’s leadership directly.

All this said, some of our original questions remain unanswered.  In addition to receiving NKF’s data, we hope that councils include their membership’s input before making any decisions as we do not see where it’s been incorporated in GSUSA’s strategy.
